PRAY FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH

The nation:

 

  • has experienced a troubled history since Bible times.
  • the U.S. military operations have both helped and hindered Iraqui Christians
  • fighting between Muslims has directerd attention away from Christians for the time being.

The Church:

 

Iraq is a complex mix of severe persecution and a place of increased freedom for believers and evangelism. Since 2003 there has been a mass exodus of Christians from Iraq. Many of those who stay behind have been kidnapped. Amidst the chaos of a country being rebuilt with ongoing conflict, many churches have succumbed tothreats and aspirit of fear by closing the doors in 2007. The few churches that remain recognized the potential for division and have begun meeting to encourage each other. One church reports an outreach ministry to Muslims that began when one person came asking about Christianity. Muslim converts now tell others about Jesus

Cy and Patricia Kim - report the work in China continues to grow. The Hope Language School is now in full operation using the books we donated as part of it's library. This school helps teach English as a second language so it is considered a valuable asset by the local government officials. As with all of the Kim's projects, the Christian background is quietly working in this oppressive country. Pray for the success of the school and for the Kim's health and perserverence for the Lord. Rinn Sim - Several years ago we started supporting a Cambodian evangelist in Lowell, MA. His name is Rinn Sim and he and his family work among a fairly large population of Cambodians teaching Christ and planting a New Testament church there.
Rinn recently wrote to thank us for the prayers and support and to update us on the progress of the church. They are doing well and making in roads in the Cambodian community. While Rinn is ministering he is being trained by the staff and friends of Restoration House Ministries. All of this effort is to bring glory to God and reach a people group that has come to America for the promises we have available.
Our support will continue, add Rinn to your personal prayer list please, especially ask God for help in finding a meeting place for the church.

 

Open Your Heart, Prison Ministry - Mike Breidenbaugh, of Open Your Heart, is now sending Bible correspondence courses to three more prisons. These are located in Indiana at Greencastle, Michigan City, and Rockville. This brings the correspondence course work to minister in 64 prisons. Pray for Mike and this exciting ministry. Through this teaching, dozens of men have been won to Christ, baptized for the remission of sins and taught to live a Christian life. For most of these men prison has saved them and has been the place they will look back on as the turning point of their lives.
The battles to over come prejudice within the prison systems and discrimination in the prison management has resulted in Bible studies being taught by some of these converted men, the Lord’s Supper being served every Lord’s day, and the church being build within the walls

 

Christian Holy Land Foundation - This mission is in and around Jerusalem. They report ...admidst the was situation the Lord is already giving us new opportunities for ministry and as his servants we continue to move forward for His name's sake. Please continue to pray for real peace in this area and for people's hearts to be open to the real Prince of Peace.
